Steve Forbis was a force for the Lions' defense from 1982-85, holding single-season records while placing himself in the top ten of multiple other single-season and career lists at Southern when he was inducted.
Forbis is the single-season tackle leader for the Lions posting 148 stops in 1985. He also holds the number 5 spot on the single-season stop list with 125 in 1983. Forbis ranked third in career tackles at MSSU with 365 at the time of his induction, and he led the team in tackles in each of the 1983, 1984 and 1985 seasons. Forbis was a first-team All-CSIC and All-District pick in 1985, while earning Academic All-American honors in 1984.
Forbis graduated in 1986 with a degree in accounting from Missouri Southern. Forbis was an educator and a coach for nearly 30 years and has since worked with both American Fidelity and the Expedian Group in Republic, Mo. He and his wife, Leslie, have two daughters, Kelsey and Karsen.
