MSSU Athletics Hall of Fame
Cowherd participated in basketball, volleyball, track, and softball for the Lady Lions. She was a two time All-CSIC pick in basketball, and a national qualifier in the javelin as a senior in 1979. She was also a co-captain in volleyball for four years and in basketball for one. She was named MSSC’s outstanding female student-athlete as a junior and was the outstanding senior volleyball player.
Since her induction Cowherd coached volleyball at Drury University in Springfield, Mo. for 20 years and now serves DU as Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women’s Administrator. During her tenure at DU, Cowherd was the winningest coach in program history in both wins (487) and winning percentage (.578, 487-354-17).
