Shelley played football for the Lions in 1975-77. An All-Conference player in 76 and 77, Shelley was ninth all-time in the Southern total offense list at the time of his induction. He also ranked eighth all-time in the career passing yardage list with 3,262 passing yards and 31 touchdowns.
