Dolence retired in July of 1996 after 27 years of service to Missouri Southern. At the time of his retirement, Dolence was vice president for student services. He began his career at Southern dean of men and director of athletics, and later was named dean of student affairs and dean of students.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri Valley College in 1958, and education specialist’s degree from Pittsburg State in 1961, and an education doctorate from the University of Arkansas in 1969. One of Missouri Southern’s most distinguished and highly respected administrators during his tenure, Dolence has continued to be a valued supporter of the Lions.
