Prior to Southern
Massey transfers to Missouri Southern after spending his sophomore campaign at East Texas Baptist. The Sweeny, Texas, native, registered 16 tackles (seven solo, nine assisted), two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks for the Tigers in 2025. Massey registered a season-best four tackles at Howard Payne (Oct. 11, 2025).

Massey prepped at Sweeny High School under coach Jay Seibert, where he was a four-year letterwinner in football, competing on the defensive line. He earned Newcomer of the Year honors as well as First-Team and Second-Team All-District honors during his prep career. He also earned a letter in basketball, competing at center, and was a three-year letterwinner in soccer as a goalkeeper. On the track & field team, Massey was a three-year letterwinner, competing in the discus and shot put. Massey graduated from Sweeny High School in 2024 and continued his collegiate career at Tyler Junior College and East Texas Baptist University.

Personal
Gavin, the son of Caprice Dodds, Jeff Dodds and Mathew Massey, is pursuing a degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders at Southern.
