Prior to Southern
Rumsey transfers to Missouri Southern after spending the 2025 season at fellow MIAA member Central Oklahoma. Prior to UCO, he spent two seasons at Missouri State. Rumsey was a standout offensive lineman for coach Greg Bryant's Lions at Moore High School. He anchored an offensive line that averaged 443.6 yards per game his senior season. The Moore, Oklahoma, native, was named to the 2022 All-Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference First-Team as a senior. Rumsey started all four years of his career at Moore HS and did not allow a sack or quarterback pressure during his prep career. He was a member of the Lions squad that made it to the state semifinals in football. Also was a state qualifier in both wrestling and track & field (top-3 in the state for throwing).
 

Personal
Jax Rumsey's father, Daniel Rumsey, played football at Northeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas State before joining the Dallas Cowboys in training camp.
