Prior to Southern:
Mathis Roberts is a versatile defensive player from Saint Petersburg, Florida, attending Gibbs High School. Throughout his high school career, he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and field. As a football player, played multiple positions, including nickel, safety, and linebacker. Over his career, he recorded 6 interceptions and 7 touchdowns, starting 20 games. In 2024, he was named to the All-Area Team and earned Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
In addition to his football success, he completed in basketball and track and field. He helped his team win four consecutive district championships, four regional championships, and a state championship in 2024. He also earned All-State honors in basketball for two years (2021-2023) and competed in long jump at the state level in track. Academically, earning Honor Roll recognition throughout high school.
 
Personal:
Mathis is the son of Laquetta Roberts, brother to Ervron Price, Maurice Roberts, Maleah and Mason Roberts, plans to pursue a degree in Business Management at Southern.
