Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team competed at both Pittsburg State and Washington University this weekend.
Southern sent a trio of distance runners to Wash U to compete in the 5k. Eric Schott placed eighth with a time of 14:40.79, while Andrew Webster was 16th and Tyler Rush was 34th.
At Pitt State, both Brady Melugin and Morgan Hold tied for the championship in the pole vault, leaping to a height of 15-07.25.
In other action, Jacob Rowe was fourth in the long jump in a distance of 22-05.75, while Desmond Williams was fifth with a leap just two inches shorter. Darion Boure placed tenth in the event, while placing second in the triple jump in a distance of 47-08.50.
Bryan Burns was eighth in the shot put in a distance of 49-02.25, while Tyler Hovey was 11th. Nicklas Polizzi placed third in the discus with a distance of 161-04, while Burns placed sixth with a heave of 151-00 and Hovey was 12th.
Polizzi was seventh in the hammer with a distance of 173-05, while Burns placed ninth. Derek Webb won the javelin with a provisional distance of 206-08, while Zach Williams placed third with a distance of 196-03, a provisional as well.
The Lions will be back in action next Friday as Southern travels to Emporia, Kan. to compete in the ESU Relays.
