Two Lions Set School Records at Pittsburg State Invitational

Pittsburgh, Kan. - The Missouri Southern men's and women's Indoor Track & Field teams delivered a standout performance at the Pittsburg State Invitational in Pittsburg, KS, on Saturday. The Lions set two new school records, with Nurain Musa and JaDarius Pigg leading the way, while Caleb Manning and Joy Udo-Gabriel each claimed first-place finishes. As a team, they also recorded seven NCAA Qualifying Marks, showcasing their depth and talent across events.
 
Women's Long Jump
Gabrielle McPherson finished in 7th place with a mark of 5.50m followed by Maggie Kauk in 11th with a mark of 5.12m.
 
Men's Long Jump
McLane Rawie finished in 4th place in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.09m, followed by Donovyn Fowler in 5th with a mark of 7.02m and Peyton McBride in 7th with a mark of 6.90m.
 
Women's Weight Throw
Kirsten Womack earned 3rd place in the women's weight throw with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 17.71m, closely followed by Briar Gillum in 4th with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 17.65m. Dailynn VanDeren rounded out the top finishes for the Lions, placing 5th with a throw of 17.03m.
 
Men's Weight Throw
Tyson Williams finished in 3rd place for the Lions with a mark of 17.44m.
 
Women's High Jump
Claire Cole finished in 5th place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.49m.
 
Men's High Jump
Luke Brumit placed 3rd in the men's high jump with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 2.11m.
 
Women's Pole Vault
Abby Hobbs led the Lions in the pole vault, finishing 4th with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 3.78m. Emma Hobbs placed 11th with a mark of 3.53m, while Katie Candrl followed in 15th with a clearance of 3.18m.
 
Women's Triple Jump
Lillian Hart finished in 8th place with a mark of 10.91m.
 
Men's Triple Jump
Caleb Manning took first place in the men's triple jump with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 14.84m, while Ayden Walton followed closely in 3rd with a mark of 14.49m.
 
Women's 5000m
Jayna Gunter finished in 4th with a time of 18:19.89.
 
Women's 60m Hurdles
Aryah Moore earned a spot in the finals of the women's 60m hurdles, finishing 7th in the prelims with a time of 8.89 seconds. Maggie Kauk placed 16th with a time of 9.29 seconds, while Claire Cole followed in 22nd with a time of 9.87 seconds.
 
Men's 60m Hurdles
JaDarius Pigg delivered an outstanding performance in the men's 60m hurdles, finishing 4th in the prelims with an NCAA Qualifying Time of 8.12 seconds to secure a spot in the finals. He followed up with a remarkable showing in the finals, placing 4th again while setting a new MSSU school record with an NCAA Qualifying Time of 7.88 seconds.
 
Women's 60m Dash
Joy Udo-Gabriel dominated the women's 60m dash at the Pittsburg State Invitational, claiming 1st place in both the prelims and finals. She clocked an NCAA Qualifying Time of 7.55 seconds in the prelims, then improved to 7.49 seconds in the finals, securing another NCAA mark. Keilee Johnson finished 14th for the Lions with a time of 7.92 seconds, followed by Adrianne Casey in 36th at 8.45 seconds, Mackenzie Mayer in 39th at 8.75 seconds, and Mary Moore in 41st with a time of 8.97 seconds.
 
Men's 60m Dash
Cody Grant led the Lions in the men's 60m dash, finishing 14th with a time of 6.97 seconds. He was followed by Ethan Dias in 34th at 7.39 seconds, Garrett Strange in 38th at 7.71 seconds, and Clifton Bridgewater in 39th with a time of 7.75 seconds.
 
Women's 200m Dash
Morgan Pork finished in 11th place in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.41 seconds.
 
Men's 200m Dash
Nurain Musa had a standout performance in the men's 200m dash, finishing 2nd with a new MSSU school record and an NCAA Qualifying Time of 21.45 seconds. JaDarius Pigg followed in 25th with a time of 22.73 seconds, while Jackson Wahlgren finished 37th with a time of 24.04 seconds.
 
Women's 400m Dash
Morgan Pork finished in 11th place in the women's 400m dash with a time of 58.15 seconds.
 
Men's 400m Dash
Matthew Haddock finished in 21st with a time of 50.56 seconds.
 
Women's 600m Run
Kinzley Cantwell finished in 4th with a time of 1:32.06 followed by Claire Cole in 10th with a time of 1:35.35 and Maggie Kauk in 13th with a time of 1:39.52.
 
Men's 800m Run
Miguel Solano Jr. finished in 23rd with a time of 2:00.98.
 
Women's 3000m
Lilah Genel finished in 9th place in the women's 3000m run with a time of 10:36.73 followed closely by Isabella Frost in 10th with a time of 10:27.23.

The Lions are back in action this upcoming Friday, February 7th, at the Steve Miller Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas on the campus of Kansas State University.
