EMPORIA, Kan. – Missouri Southern's Claire Cole turned in a strong all-around performance to place seventh in the heptathlon at the Emporia State Midwest Classic, held Thursday and Friday.
Cole finished with a total of 4,226 points across the two-day competition, highlighted by a pair of personal-best efforts. She recorded a PR in the high jump, clearing 1.57 meters to place seventh, and added another PR in the javelin with a throw of 28.72 meters.
She opened the meet with a ninth-place finish in the 100m hurdles (15.74) before adding an 11th-place mark in the shot put (8.52m) and a 12th-place time of 27.21 in the 200m. On day two, Cole posted a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.19 meters and closed out the event with an eighth-place showing in the 800m run (2:38.72).
Cole's consistent performances across all seven events propelled her to a top-10 finish in a competitive field.
Missouri Southern Track & Field returns to action this Saturday as the Lions travel to Pittsburg State University for the David Suenram Gorilla Classic.
