Lion Men in 2nd, Women in 3rd After Day 2 of MIAA Championships

Emporia, Kan. – The Missouri Southern men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to Emporia State University for the 2025 MIAA Championships, concluding day two with strong team standings — the men in 2nd place with 55 points, and the women in 3rd with 38.5 points. The Lions delivered an impressive showing, capturing two MIAA individual titles and earning four All-MIAA honors.
 
Women's Heptathlon
 
Maggie Kauk placed 3rd and claimed All-MIAA honors in the women's heptathlon with 4745 points and an NCAA Qualifying Mark. She claimed five new personal best* marks out of her seven events she competed in. Below are the results from her events:
100m hurdles – 4th place – 15.00s*
High jump – 1st – 1.45m
Shot put – 3rd – 11.46m*
200m – 2nd –26.16s*
Long jump – 4th – 5.49m*
Javelin – 2nd – 38.85m
800m – 5th –2:38.74*
 
Women's Hammer Throw
Kirsten Womack takes 3rd place and All-MIAA honors in the women's hammer throw with a personal best and NCAA Qualifying Mark of 57.78m. Dailynn VanDeren takes 4th place with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 57.02m followed by Briar Gillum in 5th with a season best and NCAA Qualifying Mark of 56.93m.
 
Men's Hammer Throw
Cedric Pearson takes 4th place in the men's hammer throw with a throw of 56.28m, followed by Tyson Williams in 6th place with a throw of 55.32m and Jamale Williams in 16th with a throw of 49.50m.
 
Women's Discus
Briar Gillum takes 4th place in the women's discus with a mark of 45.14m, followed closely by Kirsten Womack in 5th place with a mark of 45.04m.
 
Men's Discus
Jamale Williams claims the MIAA Championship in the men's discus with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 53.76m, followed closely by Cedric Pearson in 2nd with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 53.26m. Tyson Williams takes 5th with a throw of 48.13m.
 
Women's Pole Vault
Abby Hobbs takes 5th place in the women's pole vault with an NCAA Qualifying Mark of 3.88m, followed by Emma Hobbs in 8th with a season best of 3.73m.
 
Men's Long Jump
Caleb Manning claims the MIAA Championship in the men's long jump with a season best and NCAA Qualifying Mark of 7.46m, followed closely by Peyton McBride in 3rd with a season best of 7.25m, Ayden Walton in 5th with a season best in 7.22m and Drew Beaclher in 6th in 7.21m.
 
Women's Steeplechase
Kayanna Adams takes 7th place in the women's steeplechase with a time of 11:23.04.
 
Women's 10,000m
Hailey Nelson takes 7th place in the women's 10k with a season best time of 37:06.57 and Zoe Nelson takes 12th place with a time of 38:21.88.
 
Men's 10,000m
Jaden Deaton takes 12th place in the men's 10k with a season best time of 30:42.55.
 
Prelims
 
Women's 100m Hurdles
Ashyiria Savage claimed 3rd place in the women's 100m hurdles with an NCAA qualifying time of 13.74 seconds, advancing to the finals. Aryah Moore followed closely in 4th place, clocking a season best and NCAA Qualifying Time of 14.02 seconds to also secure a spot in the finals. Finals will take place tomorrow at 2:30pm.
 
Men's 110m Hurdles
JaDarius Pigg takes 3rd place in the prelims of the men's 110m hurdles with an NCAA Qualifying Time of 13.85 seconds, qualifying in finals. Finals will take place tomorrow at 2:40pm.
 
Women's 400m Hurdles
Kinzley Cantwell takes 7th place in the prelims of the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.40, qualifying for finals. Finals take place tomorrow at 3:45pm.
 
Men's 400m Hurdles
JaDarius Pigg takes 1st place in the prelims of the 400m hurdles with an NCAA Qualifying Time of 52.06 seconds qualifying for finals. Ryan Jackson takes 7th place with a season best time of 54.19 seconds, also qualifying for finals. Finals take place tomorrow at 3:55pm.
 
Men's 400m
Sebastian Cooper takes 11th place in the prelims of the men's 400m dash with a time of 48.97 seconds.
 
Men's 100m
Cody Grant takes 11th place in the prelims of the men's 100m dash with a season best time of 10.57 seconds.
 
Men's 800m
Miguel Solano Jr. takes 9th place in the prelims of the men's 800m with a time of 1:53.35.
