Lions Send Program-Record 25 Athletes to NCAA Outdoor Championships

JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern Track & Field will send a program-record 25 student-athletes to the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 21-23, 2026, at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas. The Lions enter the national meet ranked fourth in Division II on both the men's and women's sides, with podium potential across multiple event areas.

Aryah Moore leads the hurdles group after qualifying in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.70 seconds, ranking fourth in the MSSU record books.

In the throws, Briar Gillum leads a multi-event national group, qualifying in three events. She enters the shot put (15.54m, sixth in MSSU history), hammer throw (61.96m, program record), and discus throw (52.81m, second in MSSU history). Dailynn VanDeren also doubles in the shot put (17.34m, program record) and hammer throw (61.70m, second in MSSU history), while Allyssa Mahone qualified in the shot put (15.21m, seventh in MSSU history) and discus throw (52.66m, third in MSSU history). These three student-athletes swept the podium in women's shot put at the MIAA Outdoor Championship in the beginning of May.

Abby Hobbs will represent the Lions in the pole vault after clearing 3.97 meters, ranking sixth in program history.

In the javelin, Missouri Southern features a strong group led by Keilee Johnson, who enters as the program record holder at 54.70 meters. She is joined by Adrianne Casey (51.42m, fourth in MSSU history), Mary Moore (47.42m, sixth in MSSU history), Maggie Kauk (45.40m, eighth in MSSU history), and Rylie Moore (45.39m, ninth in MSSU history).

On the men's side, Manuel Campana leads the javelin group after throwing 71.44 meters, ranking second in Missouri Southern history. Garrett Strange joins him with a mark of 67.79 meters, which ranks third in program history.

The hammer throw group features Gabe Ford, who enters with a mark of 65.02 meters (fourth in MSSU history), and Isaiah Waller at 61.74 meters (sixth in program history). Ford also qualified in the discus throw with a mark of 53.66 meters, which ranks sixth all-time at Missouri Southern.

Cedric Pearson headlines the throws group with elite marks in both the shot put (19.09m, second in MSSU history) and discus throw (56.55m, fifth in program history). Jamale Williams joins him with a program-record discus mark of 59.86 meters and a shot put mark of 18.69 meters, which ranks third in MSSU history. Trace Wooldridge also qualified in the shot put with a mark of 17.57 meters, ranking seventh all-time.

In the long jump, Missouri Southern qualified three student-athletes led by Donovyn Fowler (7.66m, third in MSSU history), Ayden Walton (7.61m, fourth in program history), and Chase Querry (7.53m, fifth in program history). These three student-athletes swept the men's long jump podium at the MIAA Outdoor Championship in the beginning of May.

In the pole vault, Zeke Galvicius enters as the Missouri Southern program record holder after clearing 5.36 meters.

On the track, Phillip Jefferson qualified individually in the 400m hurdles with a program record time of 50.89 seconds. Jefferson will also join Cody Grant, Cameron Cleveland, and Rylan Wilson on the 4x100m relay team, which enters the national meet with a program record time of 40.09 seconds.
