Prior To Southern
VanDeren prepped at Bolivar High School, where she competed in throws for the Liberators. Her personal bests were 12.26 meters in the shot put and 38.61 meters in the discus. She earned All-State honors in the shot put from her sophomore through senior years and in the discus her junior and senior years. VanDeren was also named to the All-Conference first team in each of her sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Dailynn, the daughter of Angie and Brent Vanderen, is pursuing a degree in Psychology at Southern.
