Pittsburg, Kan. – The Missouri Southern women's and men's indoor track and field teams opened their season on Friday, December 6th, at the two-day Crimson & Gold Invitational on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
The Lions finished the weekend with a new school record in the women's 60m dash from freshman Joy Udo-Gabriel and 13 NCAA qualifying marks overall.

Women's 5000m run
Jenari Lopez finished the race in 12th place with a time of 18:00.07, followed closely by Jayna Gunter in 18th place with a time of 18:25.17 and Kyla Weems in 24th place with a time of 18:36.91.

Women's 60m Hurdles
Aryah Moore finished in 9th place with a time of 9.01 seconds, followed by Maggie Kauk in 16th with a time of 9.22 seconds, and Claire Cole in 44th with a time of 9.95 seconds.
Men's 60m Hurdles
JaDarius Pigg finished in 4th place with an NCAA qualifying time of 7.97 seconds moving him up in the MSSU individual record books to 4th place. Darian Abbott finished in 19th with a time of 8.41 seconds.
Women's 60m Dash
Freshman Joy Udo-Gabriel broke the school record with an NCAA qualifying time of 7.43 seconds and placed third. Jasmine Deckard previously held the record with a finish of 7.44 seconds at the 2019 National Championships.
Keilee Johnson placed 46th with a time of 7.96 seconds, Adrianne Casey placed 84th with a time of 8.39 seconds, Mackenzie Mayer placed 89th with a time of 8.57 seconds, and Mary Moore placed 94th with a time of 9.07 seconds.
Men's 60m Dash
Nurain Musa finished in 12th place with a time of 6.87 seconds followed closely by Cody Grant in 15th place with a time of 6.90 seconds. Ethan Dias and Jackson Wahlgren placed 101st and 102nd each with a time of 7.48 seconds, Garrett Strange placed 107th with a time of 7.59 seconds, and Clifton Bridgewater placed 109th with a time of 7.66 seconds.
Women's 300m Dash
Morgan Pork finished in 23rd place with a time of 41.54 seconds, and Kinzley Cantwell finished in 39th with a time of 43.54 seconds.
Men's 300m Dash
Nurain Musa finished in 8th place with a time of 34.41 seconds, Matthew Haddock finished in 15th with a time of 34.93 seconds, and Tye Bassham finished in 30th with a time of 36.20 seconds.
Women's 800m
Claire Cole finished in 19th place with a time of 2:30.61.
Men's 800m
Miguel Solano Jr. finished in 6th place with a time of 1:54.34.
Women's 4x400 Relay
The women's relay team of Morgan Pork, Aryah Moore, Kinzley Cantwell, and Alaina Norman finished in 20th place with a time of 4:02.42.
Men's 4x400 Relay
The men's relay team of Darian Abbott, Miguel Solano Jr., Tye Bassham, and Phillip Jefferson finished in 11th place with a time of 3:19.60.
Women's Long Jump
Gabrielle McPherson placed 17th with a mark of 5.46m, and Maggie Kauk finished 18th with a mark of 5.45m.
Men's Long Jump
Peyton McBride finished in 8th place with an NCAA qualifying mark of 7.19m, followed by Caleb Manning in 9th with a mark of 7.05m, Drew Beachler in 11th with a mark of 6.90m, and Ayden Walton in 20th with a mark of 6.63m.
Men's Triple Jump
Caleb Manning finished in 1st place with an NCAA qualifying mark of 14.87m, followed closely by Ayden Walton in 2nd with an NCAA qualifying mark of 14.68m.
Women's High Jump
Coryn Fair finished in 6th place with a mark of 1.63m, followed by Marcy Miller and Claire Cole, who tied for 22nd with a mark of 1.50m.
Women's Pole Vault
Abby Hobbs finished in 3rd place with an NCAA qualifying mark and personal best jump of 3.91m.
Men's Pole Vault
Travis Greenfield finished in 4th place with an NCAA qualifying mark of 4.97m.
Women's Shot Put
Dailynn VanDeren finished in 3rd with an NCAA qualifying mark of 15.08m, moving up to 5th in the MSSU history books. Briar Gillum and Kirsten Womack each finished NCAA qualifying marks, Gillum in 6th with a mark of 14.20m and Womack with a mark of 13.72m. Alaina Norman finished in 22nd with a mark of 11.85m.
Men's Shot Put
Cedric Pearson finished in 2nd place with a personal best and NCAA qualifying mark of 17.84m, moving him up to 2nd in the MSSU record books.
Men's Weight Throw
Tyson Williams took the 3rd place spot with a mark of 17.99m, followed by Cedric Pearson in 6th with a mark of 17.23m.
Women's Weight Throw
Dailynn VanDeren finished in 2nd place with a personal best and an NCAA qualifying mark of 18.95m, moving up to the second spot in the MSSU record books. Briar Gillum finished in 3rd with an NCAA qualifying mark of 18.26m, Kirsten Womack finished in 5th with an NCAA qualifying mark of 17.49m, and Aubrey Skinner finished in 10th with a throw of 14.42m.
