St. Charles, Mo. -- Missouri Southern sprinter Jeff Fraley won two events and picked up his second high point award of the season as the men's track and field team placed second at the 2015 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Lindenwood University.
Fraley won both the 100m and the 200m in the final day of the Championships. He raced to a time of 10.23 in the finals of the 100m, just .04 off the meet record and set a new MSSU school record in the process. He finished a full two-tenths of a second in front of the next competitor.
Fraley then went on to win the 200m in an automatic qualifying time of 20.66, and also set the school record in the event, breaking the previous record by .13 that was set in 1997. Farley now owns the MSSU school records for the inndoor 60m, 200m, 400m, and mile relay, as well as the outdoor 100m, 200m, 400m and the 4x100m relay.
Also earning All-MIAA status today was Darion Boure who won the triple jump with a distance of 49-11.75, nearly seven inches in front of the closest competitor. Bryan Burns placed third, earning All-MIAA honors in the shot put and throwing a provisional mark of 55-08.25. That mark ranks sixth-best all-time in the history of MSSU.
The 4x100m relay team of Jazz Allen, Erron Holley, Anthony Price and Fraley placed third, earning All-MIAA honors in a provisional time of 40.81.
In other action, Derek Webb placed fourth in the javelin with a provisional distance of 197-05, while Mitchell Hilger was sixth and Zach Williams placed 12th. Jayce Thomas placed ninth in the high jump, while Nathan Henry was fourth in the 3k steeple with a time of 9:35.99. Colton Wooldridge was sixth in the event.
Tyler Rush was 9th in the 1,500m, while Ben Southwick was 18th and Jacob Coffman was 22nd. Jazz Allen was fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.76, while he placed sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.90.
Andrew Webster was fourth in the 5k with a time of 15:31.84, while Eric Schott and Rush placed fifth and sixth. Wooldridge placed 19th in the event.
The 4x400m relay team of Sam Kohrs, Thomas Hawkins, Tom Zeilman and Price placed seventh.
Southern scored 127 points at the meet. Pittsburg State won the title with 139 points. Central Missouri was third, while Lincoln, Fort Hays, Emporia State, Nebraska-Kearney, Lindenwood, Southwest Baptist and Northwest Missouri rounded out the team scores.
In all, the Lions had seven All-MIAA performances at the meet. Those marks are listed below. Southern will be back in action next week when the Lions play host to their Last Chance Meet on Friday.
