Biography

Prior to Southern – Kara was a four-time letter winner in the net for the Mavericks of Ft. Smith Southside HS and coach Jeremy Davis.  Popa had a career high 24 saves in a game for the Mavericks and had a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 0.85 while recording a save percentage of .954. Popa was also invited to the 2017 Arkansas All-State Soccer Game. Popa played club soccer for the Ft. Smith Express under coaches Dave Marshall and Rusty Walker and for the Arkansas Rush under coach Gez Rogers. During her club action, Popa had a GAA of 0.80 and a save percentage of .966. Popa also won two letters in bowling and one in volleyball for the Mavericks.
 
Personal – Kara is the daughter of Cindy Popa and John and Shannon Popa and plans to major in nursing at Southern.
