PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri Southern closed out the MIAA Championships Sunday, May 3 at the Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex with runner-up finishes on both sides, as the men scored 129.75 points and the women totaled 123.5 points.

The Lions capped the meet with multiple titles and record performances.

Following the conclusion of the meet, Briar Gillum was named the 2026 MIAA High Point Award recipient. She earned 26 points for the Lions over the Championships, capturing first in discus and second in both hammer throw and shot put. 

Dailynn VanDeren won the women's shot put with a program-record throw of 17.34m, while Cedric Pearson claimed the men's title (18.54m). Missouri Southern also swept the javelin titles, with Keilee Johnson setting a program record (54.70m) and Manuel Campana winning on the men's side (71.44m).

On the track, Phillip Jefferson added a title in the 400m hurdles (50.89), while the men's 4x100 relay placed second with a program-record time of 40.09.

The Lions added points across the board in throws, jumps, distance, and relays, finishing the weekend with multiple All-MIAA honors, NCAA qualifying marks, and several updates to the program record book.
