PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri Southern closed out competition Saturday at the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic with additional NCAA qualifying marks and personal-best performances across the field and track.
 

The Lions once again found success in the throws. Dailynn VanDeren won the women's shot put with an NCAA qualifying mark of 16.62 meters, while Kirsten Womack placed third with another NCAA mark. On the men's side, Cedric Pearson led the group with a second-place finish and NCAA qualifier at 18.48 meters. Jamale Williams, Lucas Trotter and Trace Wooldridge also posted NCAA qualifying marks in a strong overall showing.

In the jumps, Ayla Bishop highlighted the day with a personal-best 3.73 meters in the women's pole vault invite to earn an NCAA qualifying mark, while Zeke Galvicius placed fifth in the men's invite with a personal-best 4.93 meters to secure a qualifier. Avery Lawhorn added a personal-best clearance in the women's high jump invite.

On the track, Tomas Foreman recorded a personal-best 8.31 seconds to place seventh in the men's 60-meter hurdles finals, while Aryah Moore finished fourth in the women's hurdles with an NCAA qualifying mark. Phillip Jefferson and Ella Fosse each posted personal-best performances and NCAA qualifying marks in the 400 meters, and the Lions added multiple PRs in the distance events.

Missouri Southern now shifts its focus as the Lions continue building momentum heading into the championship portion of the indoor season.
