Bentonville, Ark - The Missouri Southern Softball team traveled to take on the Alvy Early Memorial Classic in Bentonville, Ark. Southern defeated Upper Iowa University, 9-4 on day one. The Lions would end the weekend with a record of 6-4.
Game 1: Missouri Southern (5-2) vs. No. 1 Texas-Tyler (6-0)

Avery Tallman started on the mound for the Lions. In the first inning, the Patriots scored two runs. Southern's
Kylee Jacks tripled to right center and scored on a ground out by
Taylor Nuckolls.
Katie Gray gave the Lions the lead with a two-run homer, driving in
Lily Rand, making it 3-2.
Texas-Tyler tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth.
Kadence Janney took the mound in the sixth, and the score stayed tied, pushing the game into extra innings. In the eighth, the Patriots scored two runs to take the lead and held on for a 5-3 victory.

Upper Iowa got on the scoreboard in the first inning with one run. Southern responded in the third when
Peyton Hawkins crossed the plate on a
Kylee Jacks single to center field. Jacks then scored on a bases-loaded ground out to the pitcher by
Taylor Nuckolls.
Emily Perry capped the inning with a two-run single, bringing in
Katie Gray and
Bailey Dillon, making it 4-1. Upper Iowa closed the gap to one run, plating two in the third.
The Lions extended their lead in the fourth on a passed ball by the Peacocks, with
Kylee Jacks scoring on an error, making it 6-3. In the fifth,
Katie Gray (single) scored on a
Maddie Rolfs single.
Kylee Jacks capped the inning with a single to left field, driving in Rolfs and
Hannah Duin. Southern maintained their lead and secured a 9-1 victory.

Emma Mason on a sacrifice fly. Southern added another run in the fifth when
Bailey Dillon crossed the plate. Duin drilled a double to right field to bring in
Katie Gray, and Duin scored on a
Maddie Rolfs ground out to first.
The Lions capped their scoring in the seventh inning when
Emma Mason drove in
Taylor Nuckolls to tie the game at 6-6. The Bearcats responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, securing a 7-6 win.
