Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Softball team completed day two at the Raising Cane's Festival on Saturday, February 17. The Lions walked out of Oklahoma after splitting the day with a pair of comebacks, allowing Southeastern Oklahoma State to comeback from a 4-0 Missouri Southern lead to defeat the Lions 10-6 to which the Lions flipped the script and completed a sixth inning comeback over Southwestern Oklahoma State to win 5-2.

The Lions jumped out to an early lead with a two RBI single from
Kara Amos, driving in
Emily Perry and
Adrianna Young to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Both teams were scoreless through the top of the third until
Emily Perry launched a two-run homerun over the left field fence to give the Lions a 4-0 lead after three innings of play. The Savage Storm found some momentum quickly in the top of the fourth, scoring nine runs and rallying four of the nine runs on two outs to turn the game around into a 9-4 Southeastern lead. After the Savage Storm added another run in the sixth,
Emily Perry launched her second two-run homerun of the game to bring the game to 10-6 in the bottom of the seventh with only one out. The Lions could not bring in
Katie Gray or
Abby DeSanto who both got on base after the homerun, giving the Lions the loss to the Savage Storm, 10-6.
Kiki Pickens (4-2) picked up the loss for the Lions and pitched 0.1 innings in the fourth and gave up two hits and two earned runs that gave the Savage Storm the lead in the four batters that she faced.Â

The Lions struck the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first with an RBI single from
Carsen Tinkler that drove in
Kylee Jacks, who walked prior, to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs returned with two runs in the top of the third to take their first lead of the ballgame. Neither team was able to reach home until the bottom of the sixth where
Hannah Duin layed down a bunt that scored
Katie Gray to tie the game for the Lions.
Kylee Jacks gave the Lions the lead with an RBI single that scored
Reese Davis.
Carsen Tinkler got her second hit of the day and drove in two runs with a single up into the left field to give the Lions a 5-2 lead at the end of the sixth inning. The Lions defense shut the Bulldogs down with three up and three down in the top of the seventh to defeat them 5-2.
Natalie Bates (3-0) picked up the win for the Lions and pitched all 7.0 innings and gave up three hits and two earned runs while striking out five of the 25 batters that she faced.Â
