Spring Hill, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern men's golf team has three golfers in the top ten, four in the top 20 and the Lions lead the 2018 MIAA Golf Tournament after day one of competition at Sycamore Ridge Golf Club. 

Both Taylor Haltom and Grant Sikes are tied for fifth overall as the pair shot an even-par 72 in today's first round. Haltom started on the back nine and finished three under, thanks to three birdies and an eagle. Sikes shot an even par 36 on both sides and finished with three birdies on the day. 

Tristan Haltom is at one-over, 73 and tied for ninth as he finished with a pair of birdies on the day. Connor Neil finished at three-over, 75 to go into the clubhouse tied at 18th, while Logan Greer shot a five-over 77 and is tied for 32nd. 

The Lions, as a team, shot a four-over, 292 on the day and sit five strokes in front of Nebraska-Kearney and Lindenwood who are tied for second. Northeastern State is six strokes back of the Lions at 298 and in fouth, while Fort Hays State, Central Oklahoma, Washburn, Central Missouri, Missouri Western, Lincoln and Southwest Baptist round out the team scores. 

Southern starts tomorrow's round two as the first group out, with Sikes teeing off at 8:30 am. Greer, Taylor Haltom, Tristan Haltom and Neil will follow Sikes in ten-minute increments.
