PITTSBURG, Kan. — Missouri Southern men's golf opened play at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Crestwood Country Club, competing through the first two rounds of the 54-hole event hosted by Pittsburg State.
The Lions were paced by
Britten Coy, who rebounded from an opening-round 78 (+6) with a strong 75 (+3) in round two to lead the team. Max Templeman followed closely, posting rounds of 79 (+7) and 78 (+6), while Zachary Gardner carded a 78 (+6) in the first round before finishing the day with an 81 (+9).
Sam Patterson showed improvement in the second round, trimming three strokes off his opening 82 (+10) to shoot 79 (+7), while
Connor Goens matched that 79 (+7) in round two after an 83 (+11) to start the tournament.
Competing as individuals,
Tucker Ford turned in the low round of the day for Southern with a 76 (+4) in the opening round before shooting 81 (+9) in round two.
Colby Shadwick added rounds of 85 (+13) and 86 (+14).
The Lions will wrap up play at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational with the final round on Tuesday.
