Arlington, Texas -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team posted two event wins and nine top-five performances in the final day of the 2018 Bobby Layne Invitatoinal hosted by Texas-Arlington.
Destiny Akannam took home first in the 400m in a provisional time of 55.56.
Ashlynn Vanatter was 16th in the event.
Emily Presley won the pole vault in a provisional height of 13-03.50, just two centimeters off of an Automatic Qualifying mark. Elena Bisotto was fourth, while
Jordan Banker was sixth.
In other action,
Jasmine Deckard placed fifth in the 200m in a time of 24.54, while
Sierra Wells was tenth in the 1,500m in a time of 4:55.23 and Janna Hautala was 16th.
Allie Heckemeyer placed 17th in the 100m hurdles, while
Rachel Ray was sevent,
Kelsey Evans was ninth and
Breanna Setchfield was 11th in the 400m hurdles.
The 4x100m relay team of Ray, Akannam, Heckemeyer and Decakrd placed fifth in a time 47.52.
Wynter Nekola and Heckemeyer placed fifth in the high jumps, both earning heights of 5-04.25, while Heckemeyer was third in the triple jump with a provisional distance of 39-05.25.
Katie Skelton placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 42-06.75, while placing fourth in the discus in a distance of 132-00.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, competing at both Washington University and Emporia State.
