Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior
Allie Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth, Mo.) set a new MSSU school record and picked up an All-MIAA performance in day one of the 2017 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Missouri Southern inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Heckemeyer earned a provisional total of 3,628 points in the pentathlon, surpassing the previous record set at last year's championships of 3,560 by
Kaylee Morgan. Heckemeyer had a second place finish in the long jump and the high jump and finished the day off with a third place finish in the 800m to earn All-MIAA status and second-place.
The mark is 11th in Division II and third-best in the MIAA.
In men's action,
Kyle Parr sits in 11th place after day one of the heptathlon with 2,547 points. Parr was fourth in the long jump, eighth in the high jump and ninth in the shot put.
Day two begins tomorrow morning at 9 am.
