Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team rode a seven-run third inning to a 12-4 victory today over visiting Arkansas Tech inside Warren Turner Field.

The Lions (7-4) got a stellar start from Dan Hawk as he went six and a third, striking out four and allowing just three earned runs. Hayden Brauser threw two and a third of hitless baseball, while Christian Goshen got the final out.

Todd Hinkley had two doubles as he went 2-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Max Hogan went 3-4 with a home run, his eighth of the year, and three runs scored. Tyler Sutherland drove in two, while Mike Million went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Richie Gorski went 2-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Dave Prost hit his second home run of the season.

Prost started the third off with a home run, while Hinkley, Million, Gorski, and Sutherland had RBIs in the inning as the Lions batted around to score seven.

Hogan homered in the fourth to put the Lions up 8-0 before Tech (5-6) added a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to cut the lead to 8-4. The Lions added a run in the seventh and added three more in the eighth on RBIs from Hinkley and Million.

The Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern opens up MIAA play at Lindenwood.
