St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team went down 4-0 early, but stormed back and won 12-7 today in the opening game of the series at Lindenwood.
Southern (8-4, 1-0 MIAA) got a huge day at the plate from
Richie Gorski as the senior went 4-4 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored. Gorski was just a double shy of the cycle.
Tyler Sutherland and
Max Hogan both had a pair of hits, two RBIs and a run scored, while
Todd Hinkley had two hits and a run scored.
Seth Mesey started and went six innings for the no-decision.
Colin Chandler threw an inning and two thirds in relief and picked up win number one of the season while
Hayden Brauser threw the final inning and a third for his first save of the season.
Lindenwood (6-5, 0-1 MIAA) had a 3-5 day with three RBIs for Wes Degener.
Southern went down 4-0 early, but MSSU scored two runs in each of the third and fourth innings, while plating a single run in the fourth and fifth to tie the game at 6-6. Three runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings secured the win for the Lions.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as first pitch is slated for 1 pm.
