Connor Neil shot a second round 4-under 68 while the Missouri Southern Lions Golf team finished alone in fifth place with a 10-over 586 (298-288) after the first day of the second annual MSSU Fall Invitational at the Shangri-La Golf Club Monday.
Neil shot a team low 4-under 141 (71-69) to finish in a three-way tie for third place with Central Oklahoma's Cody Troutman and Oklahoma Christian's Zac Schaefer. Senior
Taylor Lansford dropped two spots from fourth into sixth with a 2-under 142 (71-71) and senior
Cameron Hamilton finished the day at 3-over 147 (73-74). Â Sophomore
Tripper Jensen moved up eight spots after the first round and finished at 12-over 156 (81-75) while fellow sophomore
Jake Badovinac also improved his first round finish by six strokes for a 158 (82-76).
Freshman
Chase Rogers is the highest individual golfer and is tied for 28th after moving up 15 spots with an even par 72 for a day one total of 6-over 150 and senior
Phillip Roller is tied for 34th with a two round total 152 (75-77). Sophomore
Adam Vining finished tied for 54th at 13-over 157 (80-77) and sophomore
Daniel Kwon dropped eight spots after the first round into 65th for a two round total 165 (81-84) and freshman
Taylor Edmonds rounded out the individuals with a 176.
The Lions are in fifth place with a 10-over 586 after an even par 288 second round. Central Oklahoma leads the field with a 5-under 571 (294-277) after an 11-under second round. In second place is Oklahoma Christian, who lead after the opening round, with an even par 576 (277-299) followed by Lindenwood with a 6-over 582 (289-293). Following Southern by seven shots is Hutchinson CC with a 593 (298-295) and Southwest Baptist finished seventh with a 23-over 599 (304-295). Rogers State finished in eighth with a 604 (305-299) followed by Concordia-St. Paul with a 606 (308-298), Minnesota State Mankato with a 608 (304-304), Sioux Falls finished 11th with a 613 (304-309), and Fort Hays State finished 12th with a 643 (326-317).
The third and final round will start Tuesday morning with tee times off of the first and tenth hole starting at 8:30 a.m.
