Former MSSU Distance Runner Kimi Reed Competes At US Marathon Olympic Trials

Los Angeles, Calif. -- Former Missouri Southern women's track and field distance All-American Kimi (Shank) Reed competed today in the USA Olympic Marathon Trials.

Reed finished in a time of 2:52.52, good for 86th place on the women's side.

Reed had qualified for the marathon trials by completing the 2015 Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in 2:38, for a pace of 6 minutes, 4 seconds per mile. It was her fifth career marathon.

Shank is one of the most highly-decorated distance runners ever at Southern. She holds the school record in four different events (indoor 5k, distance medley relay, outdoor 5k, outdoor 10k). She was a multiple All-MIAA and All-American, while being named the 2008 South Central Region Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

She is married to former MSSU men's track and field athlete Andrew Reed.
