Lake City, Minn. - The Missouri Southern Men's Golf team wrapped up their third tournament of the fall season on Tuesday afternoon with a seventh place finish at the JR Watkins Invitational hosted by Winona State at The Jewel Golf Club.
Senior
Cameron Hamilton paced the Lions in the final round with a 2-over 74 to finished tied for 17th with a two round 150 (76-74). Also tied for 17th was fellow senior
Taylor Lansford (74-76) and junior
Connor Neil placed in a tie for 30th, after improving on his first round score by a stroke, with a 153 (77-76). Freshman
Chase Rogers also improved on his opening round with a two shot improvement to 79 for a 160 and sophomore
Tripper Jensen finished just one stroke back of Rogers at 161.
Southern moved up two spots with an identical second round team score of 305 for a two round total of 610, 34-over. Â Host Winona State finished both first and second in the team standings with the "A" team carding a 4-over 580 Â (291-289) and the "B" team 20 strokes back at 600 (294-306). Minot State finished third just two strokes back of Winona State "B" at 602 (303-299), Missouri Western finished fourth, 605 (303-302) and Southwest Baptist rounded out the top five with a 606 (300-306). Augustana (S.D.) finished sixth at 609 (298-311) followed by the Lions at 610 and the University of Manitoba "A" team with a 611 (304-307). Minnesota State Mankato finished in ninth with a 37-over 613 (310-303) followed by Bemidji State at 614 (302-312) to round out the top ten. The final six places went Sioux Falls (615, 311-304), Concordia-St. Paul (618, 306-312), Upper Iowa (618, 318-300), St. Cloud State (621, 310-311), University of Manitoba "B" (639, 320-319), and Minnesota-Crookston (644, 327-317).
Southern will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday as they head to The Fox Run Golf Club for the Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Missouri at St. Louis.
