Eureka, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Men's Golf Team dropped two spots on the final day of the Midwest Regional Invitational to finish tied for ninth at the Fox Run Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior
Taylor Lansford led the Lions in the final round with a 4-over 76 to give him a two round total of 7-over 151 and a share of 17th. Day one team leader, junior
Connor Neil, finished tied for 30th after shooting a second round 81 for a total of 153 while sophomore
Tristan Haltom finished with a 157. Freshman
Chase Rogers and senior
Cameron Hamilton finished with a 159 and 161, respectively.
Round one leader and host, the University of Missouri at St. Louis, finished second with a two day total of 580 (285-295) three strokes back of the eventual winner Ferris State. Grand Valley State finished third with a 603 (299-304) followed by Hillsdale College out of Michigan with a 604 (294-310) and Harding University rounded out the top five with a 605 (302-303).
The next five started with Maryville University out of St. Louis with a 611 (303-308) followed by Bellarmine at 612 (310-302), the University of Illinois at Springfield at 614 (315-299) then both Lindenwood (312-304) and Missouri Southern (303-313) at 616. The University of Southern Indiana finished 11th at 620 (308-312) followed by Tiffin University at 621 (314-307) and Rockhurst at 623 (305-318). There was a four way tie for 14th between Lake Superior State University (313-313), Trevecca Nazarene (312-314), McKendree University (305-321), and Malone University (301-325) at 626. Alderson Broaddus University finished 18th at 630 (323-3070) followed by Northwood University of Michigan at 635 (309-326) and Walsh University rounded out the top 20 with a 639 (338-301).
Rounding out the 26 team filed was William Jewell at 641 (318-323), St. Joseph's College of Indiana at 643 (327-316), Quincy at 649 (324-325), Kentucky Wesleyan at 651 (318-333) amd Drury (327-331) and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (332-326) at 658.
The Lions will be back in the St. Louis area next week as they compete in their final fall tournament, a MIAA point event hosted by Lindenwood University, at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles.
