Birmingham, Ala. -- Missouri Southern sophomore distance runner Emily Harris picked up an All-American nod today as she finished second in the mile at the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Birmingham at the CrossPlex.
Harris not only earned All-American honors, but took out another school record in the process. Already owning a record she took from Margaret Miklovic Lyons in the 3k, Harris now has taken another record from Lyons as she finished the mile in a time of 4:51.11 today, besting the previous MSSU record by nearly a half a second.
Harris finished four seconds off the leader as the runner up and was eight tenths of a second in front of third place.
This is the first All-American honor for the former All-State runner out of Farmington High School in Missouri.
