Lawrence, Kan. -- Jeff Fraley won the 60m and improved his national ranking as the Missouri Southern men's track and field team competed in the Jayhawk Invite Friday at the University of Kansas. 

Fraley ran a 6.72 in the prelims, just .01 off his school record and easily qualified No. 1 for the finals. He ran a 6.77 in the finals to take the event. The time ranks third nationally in the event he has already qualified for. 

In other action, Sam Kohrs and Thomas Hawkins placed fourth and sixth in the 600 yard, respectively. Kohrs finished in a time 1:14.37, while Hawkins ran a time of 1:14.85. Tom Zeilman finished second in the morning session 800m with a time of 1:58.27, while Erron Holley and Desmond Williams placed fourth (22.40) and tenth (22.31) respectively in the morning session 200m. 

Adrian Todd placed seventh in the morning session 3k with a time of 8:55.69, while Williams placed sixth in the long jump clearing a distance of 21-07.50. Darion Boure hit a provisional distance and won the triple jump clearing 47-10.00. 

Bryan Burns was second in the weight throw hitting a distance of 54-06.00, while Tyler Hovey was eighth in the shot put (49-09.00), Burns was 11th and Nicklas Polizzi finished 17th. 

Fraley was second in the afternoon session of the 400m dash, finishing in a time of 48.99. Ben Grant, Ben Southwick and Gabe Lodge placed 5th, 7th and 8th in the afternoon 1,000 meter run, while Yvonel Adams and Miles Migliara placed third and fifth in the afternoon session of the 800m. 

Andrew Webster was sixth in the afternoon 3k in a time of 8:36.89, while Colton Wolldridge placed 11th. The DMR team of Adams, Tavion Jones, Migliara and Zeilman placed eighth in a time of 10:48.00, while the mile relay team of Kohrs, Hawkins, Holley and Williams placed eighth in a time of 3:26.30. 

The Lions will be back in action next week when Southern plays host to the MSSU Lion Open on Friday and Saturday.
