Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior sprinter Jeff Fraley picked up one of two wins the Lions had today in the final day of the MSSU Open on Mercy Track inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Fraley improved on his prelim time of 6.79 by winning the 60m dash in a provisional time of 6.76. Fraley followed that up with a performance in the 600 yard dash. Running in his first career race at the distance, Fraley finished fourth with a time of 1:13.83, just a second off of the school record in the event. Sam Kohrs placed sixth, while Thomas Hawkins finished 11th.
Kennan Harrison and Darion Boure placed first and second in the triple jump. Harrison hit a provisional distance of 47-08, while Boure leaped to a distance of 46-08.25. Garner Rudroff placed sixth in the event.
Morgan Hold finished third in the pole vault with a provisional height of 15-07.25, while Zach Wuest and Jayce Thomas placed sixth and eighth.
Tyler Hovey and Bryan Burns placed eighth and ninth in the shot put, while Thomas finished 16th. Colton Wooldridge finished seventh in the mile in a time of 4:29.80, while Alex Mason and Jacob Coffman placed 11th and 17th.
Anthony Price placed third in the 400m dash, finishing in a time of 50.33. Desmond Williams and Tavion Jones placed sixth and seventh, respectively in the event.
Yvonel Adams finished third in the 800m, while Tom Zeilman and Gabe Lodge finished fourth and fifth. Ben Grant and Ben Southwick were tenth and 12th.
Adrian Todd was fifth in the 3k while Nathan Henry, Wooldridge and Drake Smelser placed seventh, eighth and tenth in the event.
The mile relay team of Kohrs, Fraley, Williams and Price placed third in a time of 3:22.85, while the team of Hawkins, Jones, Holley and Adams placed sixth.
The Lions will be back in action next week participating in the UCM invite in Warrensburg.
