Distance Medley Shines In Final Day At Tyson

Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern women's distance medley relay team picked up a strong provisional and placed seventh in the final day of the Tyson Invitational today at the University of Arkansas.

The team of Rachel Schrader, Kelly McKay, Carita Riutta and Ashley Bunch raced to a time of 12:01.24, and were the only Division II team in the race. The time is tops in the MIAA at the moment and ranks ninth in Division II. 

Marlee Tegenkamp and Victoria Kline placed 10th and 15th in the 3k with times of 10:16.51 and 10:48.34, respectively. Jasmine Hughes placed 87th in the 200m with a time of 25.70, while Lisa Vengels was tenth in the high jump with a height of 5-6. Nicole Green, one day after automatically qualifying for the shot put, placed 15th at Tyson, with a heave of 43-3.25. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend when Southern plays host to the Radio Shack Invitational.
