Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's
cross country team placed third today at their own Southern
Stampede, an event that features nearly 2000 runners and brings in
more than 5000 fans each year.
The University of Tulsa placed first and earned a perfect score
placing each of its runners in the top five. Midwestern State was
second with 117 points and Southern was third with 148 points.
Cowley County was fourth and Dallas Baptist rounded out the top
five team scores.
The Lions top runner was sophomore Marlee
Tegenkamp, placing 14th. Seniors Silvia Pineda and
Olga Bulgurova were 21st and 23rd. Freshman Rachel
Schrader was 35th, while senior Victoria Kline
placed 73rd. Freshman Nicole
French was 92nd while redshirt freshman Michele Stevens and
sophomore Katie Schmidt
placed 125th and 128th. Freshman Maggie
Tennal finished 136th.
302 runners ran the women's university race.
The Lions will be back in action on October 2 running at the
Missouri State Invite.
