Southern women finish 16th/Jarvenpaa placed 99th at 2010 NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals

Louisville, Ky. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country team placed 16th overall and the men's Jarkko Jarvenpaa placed 99th in the men's race at the 2010 NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals in Louisville today. 

The women were led by sophomore Marlee Tegenkamp who placed 46th with a time of 22:31 in cold weather and a driving snow throughout the 6k course. Senior Silvia Pineda placed 104th with a time of 23:36, while freshman Rachel Schrader was 109th with a time of 23:41. Freshman Nicole French was 153rd with a time 24:36, while senior Olga Bulgurova was 163rd with a time of 24:49. Seniors Ashley Siler and Victoria Kline placed 167th and 177th in their final race with times of 25:05 and 25:41, respectively. Kline earned the NCAA's Elite 88 award earlier in the day, given to the top GPA of any women's cross country athlete at the finals. 

In men's action, Jarvenpaa placed 99th out of 182 racers in the race with a time of 32:45. 

The women's race was won by Grand Valley State, while the men's race was won by Adams State.
