Six Lions Awarded 2025 MIAA Volleyball Academic Laurels

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Six student-athletes on the Missouri Southern volleyball team earned Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association academic awards for the 2025 season, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Alana Moesch was one of nine MIAA volleyball players to earn all three of the league's postseason academic awards: Academic Honor Roll, Scholar-Athlete Award, Academic Excellence Award.

One hundred and 15 student-athletes from all 12 MIAA volleyball institutions were honored by the Association for their efforts in the classroom during the 2025 season. There were also 30 players named MIAA Scholar-Athletes and 23 who earned the Association's Academic Excellence Award.   

The league's prestigious Academic Excellence Award was awarded to 23 student-athletes in the 2025 volleyball season. An Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

The Scholar-Athlete Award distinction went to just 23 players who excelled on the court and in the classroom. In the classroom, a MIAA Scholar-Athlete is an individual who has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution, with at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution. The player must have also received All-MIAA honors in the 2025 season to achieve Scholar-Athlete status.

One hundred and 15 players were named to the league's Academic Honor Roll. To be recognized on the league's Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. They also need at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Only nine MIAA volleyball student-athletes earned all three of the league's postseason academic awards:
  • Central Oklahoma's Mikiah Perdue – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA First Team Middle Blocker
  • Missouri Southern's Alana Moesch – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA Second Team Outside Hitter
  • Missouri Western's Emma Salker – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA First Team Middle Blocker
  • Nebraska Kearney's Mia Berg – 4.00 GPA – Honorable Mention Middle Blocker
  • Nebraska Kearney's Emilee Lane – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA First Team Outside Hitter
  • Nebraska Kearney's Peyton Neff – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA First Team Setter & MIAA Setter of the Year
  • Northwest Missouri's Ella Caffery – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA Second Team Setter
  • Washburn's Corinna McMullen – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA Second Team Setter
  • Washburn's Brynne Topolski – 4.00 GPA – All-MIAA Second Team Outside Hitter
