TOPEKA, Kan. – Missouri Southern Track & Field had a strong showing at the Rust Buster, posting multiple event wins, meet records and NCAA qualifying marks across the field and running events.
The Lions dominated the throws, led by Dailynn VanDeren, who set a meet record to win the women's weight throw at 19.01 meters and added another meet-record victory in the shot put (15.84m). Briar Gillum and Kirsten Womack joined her with NCAA qualifying performances. On the men's side, Cedric Pearson won the shot put with a meet-record 18.30 meters, while Drake Willenborg claimed the men's weight throw title with a personal-best 19.45 meters.
In the jumps, McLane Rawie earned runner-up honors in the men's long jump with an NCAA qualifying mark, while Travis Greenfield placed second in the pole vault, also qualifying for nationals.
On the track, Maksym Andurukhiv captured the men's 60-meter hurdles title, Jaden Deaton and Lilah Genel each recorded runner-up finishes in the 3000 meters, and Phillip Jefferson posted a personal best in the 800 meters.
