Southern Edges Northeastern State in Extra-Inning Thriller

Tahlequah, Okla. – The Missouri Southern baseball team Northeastern State University RiverHawks in a conference matchup. The RiverHawks struck first, but the Lions reclaimed the lead in the second inning. Both teams battled and remained deadlocked until the tenth inning, when Southern secured a 4-3 victory

Northeastern State opened the scoring in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
 
In the second inning, Southern took the lead with two runs. Treghan Parker singled and advanced to third on a passed ball. He then scored on a throwing error after a hit by Blake Jones. Jones later scored on Cy Darnell's single, putting the score at 2-1.
 
The Lions extended their lead in the third inning with a Nate Mieszkowski single and scored on a Blake Jones double, putting the score at 3-1. The RiverHawks responded in the bottom half of the inning, reducing their deficit to 3-2.
 
Northeastern State tied the game in the fifth inning, 3-3.
 
The score would remain even, 3-3, pushing the game into extra innings.
 
Southern would take the lead in the tenth inning when Chayton Beck doubled, and Cy Darnell singled to drive him home, clinching the 4-3 victory.
 
Cy Darnell contributed significantly with two hits and two RBIs. Blake Jones went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Chayton Beck contributed two hits and a walk. The Lions tallied 13 hits.
 
Kyle Moore pitched 8.0 innings for Missouri Southern, striking out four and faced 33 batters. Laif Hultine provided 2.0 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two without issuing any walks, and faced eight batters.
