Prior to Southern
Prior to transferring to Southern, Luikart played for Oklahoma, Johnson County Community College and Wichita State.
Played in 15 games at Wichita State as a redshirt sophomore in 2024, making nine starts (four in right field, three in left field, two as designated hitter). Hit .241 with seven hits in 29 at-bats...scored six runs and drove in three. Went 2-for-4 in his Wichita State debut at Little Rock on February 17. Reached base three times the following day on two walks and a hit by pitch. Keyed Wichita State's late-inning rally against Florida Atlantic on April 13 with an eighth-inning single and a run scored. Singled, walked and scored twice against UTSA on May 4. Delivered a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning against Memphis on May 18. Named to AAC All-Academic Team.
Produced an excellent 2023 season in his lone campaign with the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers. Slashed .321/.443/.488 with 18 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 37 RBI. Named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and Region 6 Gold Glove recipient in the outfield, becoming the first JCCC outfielder to receive the honor. Led the team and tied for ninth in the conference in doubles. Drew a team high 39 walks, also tied for ninth in the conference, while striking out only 25 times in 215 at-bats. Produced 18 multi-hit and seven multi-RBI games. Went 12-16 in stolen base attempts. Had a season-best three hits in a game five times. Went 7-for-15 with a double in each game of a four-game series against Crowder on February 9-11. Tripled, homered and drove in a season-high four runs against Labette on May 3. Worked three walks in a game twice. Stole two bases in a game three times. Helped the Cavaliers reach the NJCAA World Series with a 56-10 overall record.
Redshirted at Oklahoma in 2022 as Sooners finished as College World Series runner-up.
A four-year letterwinner and starter for head coach Matt Jansen at Lafayette High School. Luikart ranked the #3 outfielder in the state of Missouri and the #25 player in the state overall by Perfect Game. Was ranked the #4 outfielder in Missouri and the #15 player in the state by Prep Baseball Report. Named the 2021 Missouri Player of the Year by both Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Report. Was a three-time All-State selection. Hit .589 as a senior while going 4-0 with a 0.83 ERA and 95 strikeouts over 48.1 innings. Threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Powered Lafayette to third place in the Class 4 State Tournament, the best finish in program history. Hit .491 with four home runs and a .506 on-base percentage as a sophomore in 2019, also posted a 2.50 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 36 innings. Went 13 for 14 in stolen base attempts. Named All-District 16-4A. Did not have a junior season in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. As a freshman went 5-3 with a 2.10 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 45 innings on the mound and hit .458 with two homers and a .543 OBP. Also lettered three years in basketball, earning All-Midland Empire Conference honors.
Personal
Brayden is the son of Shane and Lisa Luikart. He has a sister, Kelsey. Brayden's father, Shane, played baseball collegiately at Missouri Western State. Born July 10. Majoring in Sports and Recreation Management- Kinesiology.
