Southern Concludes Series Against Central Missouri

Joplin, Mo. The Missouri Southern baseball team hosts the University of Central Missouri Mules in a conference matchup. The Lions trailed early in game one but took the lead in the fifth inning. However, the Mules answered back and held on for the win. Southern took an early lead in game two, but Central Missouri regained and maintained the advantage to secure the win.

Central Missouri added runs in the first, second, and third innings to lead 5-0.
 
Southern responded in the third inning with a three-run rally. Treghan Parker's single and a walk to Chayton Beck set the stage before Drew Townsend's two-RBI double and an RBI groundout by Ethan Clark brought the score to 6-3.
 
The fourth inning saw the Mule with a three-run inning. In the bottom of the inning, Cy Darnell would bring Nate Mieszkowski home on a sacrifice fly, 9-4.
 
The fifth inning saw a strong comeback from Southern, with a six runs inning. Ethan Clark hit a three-run homer to center field, and Nate Mieszkowski followed with a two-run homer, putting the Lions ahead 10-9.
 
Southern added a run in the seventh inning with a solo home run by Treghan Parker; the Lions trailed 14-11 at the end of the inning.
 
In the eighth inning, Will Potter's RBI hit-by-pitch for Southern closed the deficit to 15-12. The Mules held their lead and took the 15-12 win.
 
Ethan Clark added two runs, two hits, and a team-high four RBIs, including a home run. Nate Mieszkowski contributed with two runs, two hits, a double, and a home run, tallying two RBIs. Drew Townsend added depth to the lineup with one run, two hits, and two RBIs, complemented by a double. Treghan Parker effectively added two runs, three hits, and a home run, driving in one run. The Lions tallied 14 hits.
 
Casey Stalzer pitched 2.1 innings and faced 17 batters. Keaton Anderson pitched 1.2 innings over eight batters. Michael Moore contributed with 1.0 innings pitched, and Kyle Moore finished the game with 4.0 innings pitched while striking out four and facing 18 batters.

Missouri Southern took an early lead in the first inning as Jacob Filip scored on a fielder's choice by Nate Mieszkowski and put the score at 1-0.
 
The Mules would add runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings.
 
In the fifth inning, the Lions added one run from Brayden Luikart, who scored on a groundout by Nate Mieszkowski, bringing the score to 10-2.
 
Central Missouri added to their lead in the seventh and would take the 18-2 win.
 
Brayden Luikart scored one run with two hits, including a stolen base. Drew Townsend contributed with two hits and a double. Nate Mieszkowski drove in two runs and recorded one hit while also drawing a walk. The Lions tallied 10 hits.
 
Owen Schneider pitched 3.1 innings and struck out six batters over 22 batters faced. Laif Hultine contributed 1.1 innings in relief, with two strikeouts. Walker Sweet pitched a 1.0 inning, and Kaylor Darnell closed the game with a scoreless inning, allowing no hits and recording two groundouts and a flyout.
