Southern Splits with No. 13 Central Oklahoma, Secures No-Hit Run-Rule Win in Game Two

Edmond, Okla. – The Missouri Southern Softball team traveled to face the No. 13 University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos. In game one, the Bronchos added two late runs to secure the win. However, the Lions came out strong in game two, dominating Central Oklahoma with a no-hit, run-rule victory.

In the sixth inning, Central Oklahoma managed to break the deadlock bringing the score to 2-0. The Bronchos held their lead and ended the game 2-0.
 
Taylor Nuckolls recorded one hit and stole a base. Kylee Jacks added a hit. Peyton Hawkins was a key defensive player with four assists from her position at second base.
 
Kiki Pickens pitched a complete game for the Lions, striking out six batters and walking one over 24 batters.

Southern opened the scoring in the third inning. Taylor Nuckolls reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a stolen base. Bailey Dillon then doubled to left field, driving in Nuckolls for the first run. Shortly after, Katie Gray hit a home run, bringing in three additional runs to put the score at a 4-0 lead.
 
In the fifth inning, the Lions extended their lead with another offensive push. Katie Gray singled to left field, driving in Nuckolls. Emily Perry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing another run to score. Emma Mason contributed with a two-RBI single, followed by Peyton Hawkin's RBI single, increasing the lead to 9-0.
 
Throughout the game, Southern's pitching and defense-maintained control, preventing the Bronchos from tallying any hits or runs. The Lions secured the shut out 9-0 victory.
 
Katie Gray recorded four RBIs and hit a home run. Bailey Dillon also made a significant impact, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base. The Lions tallied eight hits.
 
Avery Tallman delivered a standout performance, pitching a complete game shutout in five innings; Tallman allowed no hits while striking out two batters.
