Lions Split Series with Ichabods

Joplin, Mo. –  The Missouri Southern Softball team hosted the Washburn University Ichabods. In game one, the Ichabods struck first to take the lead. The Lions pulled ahead, but Washburn reclaimed the advantage and held on for a 5-3 victory. In game two, the Lions seized control with a six-run inning and kept the Ichabods scoreless after the second, securing a 7-4 victory.

In the first inning, Washburn took an early lead with two runs.
 
Missouri Southern scored three runs to take the lead in the third inning. Bailey Dillon scored on a sacrifice fly by Kylee Jacks, while Carsen Tinkler's double to center field drove in two more runs, making the score 3-2.
 
In the fourth inning, the Ichabods regained their footing by scoring two runs and took a 4-3 advantage.
 
Washburn added another run in the fifth inning and held on for a 5-3 win.
 
Bailey Dillon recorded two hits and scored one run. Carsen Tinkler 2 hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Kylee Jacks added a sacrifice fly. The Lions tallied eight hits.
 
Kiki Pickens pitched 5 .0 innings with eight strikeouts and faced 31 batters. Lauren Fuller came in as a reliever, pitching 2.0 innings with two hits and no runs allowed.

The game began with the Ichabods taking an early lead, 1-0 in the first inning. The Lions responded when Bailey Dillon scored on an Ichabods error, leveling the score at 1-1.
 
Washburn would add three runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 advantage. Missouri Southern responded and scored six runs. Bailey Dillon's catcher's interference drove in Kate Thurman.

Katie Gray and Emily Perry added RBI singles, followed by Hannah Duin's sacrifice fly, which put Missouri Southern ahead 4-5. Carsen Tinkler's single capped off the inning by scoring, bringing in two more runs, making it 4-7.
 
The Lions held their advantage and secured the 7-4 win.
 
Bailey Dillon went 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, adding two stolen bases. Katie Gray contributed by driving in two runs and securing one hit. Emily Perry added an RBI and one run, and Taylor Nuckolls added two hits, scoring once and stealing two bases.
 
Avery Tallman started on the mound and pitched 3.0 innings. NaTalia Sewell pitched 3.0 relief innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out four and earning a save. Kadence Janney closed the game with a perfect one inning, requiring just six pitches to retire all three batters faced.
