Lions Claim National Championship and Two All-American Honors at DII Indoor Track & Field Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Missouri Southern women's and men's track and field teams qualified ten student-athletes for the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, where they brought home a National Champion title in the women's 60m dash and two All-American honors in the women's shot put.

This year's Championship was highlighted by Joy Udo-Gabriel winning the National Championship in the women's 60m dash finals. Udo-Gabriel set the DII all-time record in the event once again, while also breaking the National Meet Record and the MSSU School Record for the seventh time this season with a time of 7.11 seconds. In the prelims, Joy placed second with a time of 7.22 seconds. She is now tied for third in the women's 60m dash across all divisions for the 2025 indoor season.

Dailynn VanDeren competed in two events for the Lions, earning All-American honors in the women's shot put with a fourth-place finish and a personal best throw of 15.51m. On Friday, VanDeren compete in the women's weight throw with a mark of 18.88m taking 11th place.

Briar Gillum also competed in two events for the Lions, securing All-American honors in the women's shot put with a seventh-place finish and a personal best throw of 15.18m. Gillum also competed in the women's weight throw on Friday, taking 14th place with a mark of 18.53m.

Women's Shot Put
Kirsten Womack placed 10th in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.47m.

Men's High Jump
In the men's high jump, Luke Brumit placed 14th with a mark of 2.06m.

Men's Long Jump
Donovyn Fowler placed 11th in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.15m.

Men's Triple Jump
Caleb Manning placed 10th in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.98m.

Men's Shot Put
Cedric Pearson placed 14th in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.01m, followed by Jamale Williams in 17th with a mark of 16.21m.

Men's 60m Hurdles
JaDarius Pigg placed 16th in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.08 seconds.

The Lions track and field teams now shift their focus to the outdoor season, with their first meet scheduled for Friday, March 21 – Saturday, March 22 at the Miner Invitational, hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla.
