Luikart's Walk-Off Home Run Seals Extra-Inning Victory Over Arkansas-Fort Smith

Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern baseball team hosted the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions in a conference matchup. Southern jumped out to an early lead, but Arkansas-Fort Smith quickly regained control. Southern home runs in the ninth inning tied the game, leading to a thrilling finish in the 10th inning, 11-8.

In the first inning, Southern took an early lead with Drew Townsend drawing a walk and scoring on Ethan Clark's double to center field, putting them ahead 1-0.
 
Arkansas-Fort Smith responded in the second inning to bring the score to 3-1.
 
In the fourth inning, Southern closed the gap with a two-run homer by Nate Mieszkowski, who drove in Jacob Filip, tying the game at 3-3.
 
The momentum continued in the fifth inning when Jacob Filip hit a two-run home run, scoring Brayden Luikart and tying the score at 5-5.
 
The eighth inning, Arkansas-Fort Smith added two runs to making it 8-5.
 
Treghan Parker hit a three-run homer, leveling the score at 8-8 and forcing extra innings in the ninth inning.
 
In the tenth inning, the Lions sealed their victory with Brayden Luikart's three-run home run, ending the game with an 11-8.
 
Brayden Luikart added three runs scored and three RBIs from a home run. Jacob Filip contributed three runs, three hits, and two RBIs, including a home run. Treghan Parker delivered three RBIs and a home run, and Nate Mieszkowski added two RBIs and a home run. The Lions tallied 13 hits.
 
Cole Gayman pitched 3.2 innings, striking out nine batters and facing 20. Trent Harris added 4.0 innings of relief, recording seven strikeouts. Caden Carter threw 1.1 hitless innings, and Casey Stalzer closed the game with 1.0 inning, with both allowing no runs.
