Southern Split Day One of the Branson Showtime Tournament

Branson, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Softball team traveled to Branson, Mo. to compete in the Branson Showtime Tournament. The Lions fell to the Truman State University Bulldogs in game one, 6-4. Southern came back in game two to take down the Missouri S&T Miners, 1-0.
 
Game 1: Missouri Southern (9-7) vs. Truman State (11-8)

The game began with a scoreless first inning as both teams were retired in order. Missouri Southern St. took an early lead in the second inning when Katie Gray hit a solo home run to left field, putting the Lions on the scoreboard with a 1-0 advantage.
 
The Bulldogs got on the board to take the lead, 6-1 in the fifth inning,
 
Southern narrowed the gap in the sixth inning with a two-RBI double by Kylee Jacks, bringing the score to 6-3. The Lions continued to push in the seventh inning, where Bailey Dillon contributed an RBI single to make it 6-4. The Bulldogs held their advantage for a 6-4 win.

In the first inning, the Lions took an early lead against the Miners. After Bailey Dillon singled to left field and stole second, Emma Mason drove Dillon in with another single, pushing the score to 1-0.
 
Southern maintained their lead and secured the 1-0 victory.
 
Kiki Pickens dominated for Mo. Southern St., tossing a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts, no hits, and three walks. Pickens earned their sixth win of the season, improving to 6-1 with a 0.43 WHIP.
