Topeka, Kan. – The Missouri Southern baseball team traveled to take on the Washburn University Ichabods in game one. Missouri Southern jumped out to an early lead with a two-run first inning, but Washburn's to the lead and the Lions fell 14-6.

Missouri Southern started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Drew Townsend doubled to lead off, followed by
Brayden Luikart and
Will Doherty, who each contributed RBI hits, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.
In the third inning, Southern extended their lead to 3-0 when
Brayden Luikart was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by
Jacob Filip. However, the Ichabods answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Lions added a run in the fourth inning as
Treghan Parker singled and later scored on an RBI double by
Ethan Clark, bringing the score to 3-7.
Washburn continued to build their lead with two more runs in the fifth inning.
In the sixth, a solo home run by
Nate Mieszkowski cut the deficit to 9-5, but the Ichabods tacked on five more runs, pushing their lead to 14-5.
In the eighth,
Jacob Filip, who reached on a single, scored after
Nate Mieszkowski and
Treghan Parker both walked to load the bases.
Jake Leeker's fielder's choice allowed Filip to cross the plate, but Washburn held their lead for a 14-6 victory.
Ethan Clark went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
Brayden Luikart finished 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Nate Mieszkowski added a home run and an RBI in his 1-for-3 performance, while
Jacob Filip went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the mound,
Cole Gayman started and pitched 4.0 innings, striking out four.
Trent Harris pitched 0.1 innings, while
Cole White added 1.2 innings of work with one strikeout.
Alex Baker pitched a scoreless inning, walking two batters, and
Kaylor Darnell closed with one inning of hitless, scoreless relief, walking one batter.
