Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Softball team traveled to Claremore, Oklahoma to take on the #3 Rogers State Hillcats in a conference doubleheader. The Lions fell to their first sweep of the season as the Hillcats took a 1-0 win in game one and run-ruled the Lions 12-0 in game two. The Lions advance to 23-10 (3-3 MIAA) on the season.

Katie Gray was the first Lion to get a hit in the second inning, but was not able to reach home before three outs as the Hillcats scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead. The game was within striking distance as
Kiki Pickens was pitching well in the circle and did not allow another Hillcat score, but the Lions could not answer as the dropped game one, 1-0.
Kiki Pickens (7-4) picked up the loss for the Lions and pitched all 6.0 innings and gave up five hits and one run while striking out six of the 25 batters she faced.

The Hillcats displayed their nationally ranked offense in the first inning scoring 10 unanswered runs to take a 10-0 lead after only one inning. The Lions could not answer by the fifth inning as two more Hillcat runs gave them the 12-0 win in five innings.
Kara Amos (6-2) picked up the loss for the Lions and pitched all 0.1 innings and gave up four hits and four runs before being relieved.Â
