Warrensburg, Mo. – The Missouri Southern track and field programs came away with four event wins today at the Mule Relays hosted by Central Missouri at Walton Stadium.
In total, the Lions had four wins, 11 top-3 finishes and seven NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks at today's event.
Kiara Smith picked up a win in the women's 200m as she crossed the finish line in a time of 24.57.
Chardae Overstreet was sixth finishing .40 behind Smith.
Cornesia Calhoun-White was second in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.43.
Peyton Barton picked up a win in the men's discus as he hit an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 54.26m.
Josh Fulmer was fourth in the discus hitting his own provisional mark of 51.37m. Barton then went on to finish third in the men's hammer as the Lions went 3-4-5 in the event. Barton had a mark of 63.19m, while Fulmer hit 61.44m and
Connor Boyd finished at 58.25m. All three were NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks.
Jonathan Watts picked up a win in the long jump leaping to an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark of 7.46m.
Taris Jackson was sixth, while
Adrain Broadus finished 12
th. The final win of the day went to Broadus in the triple jump who leaped to an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 14.90m. Jackson was second in the TJ with a distance of 14.54m.
Luke Brumit was third in the men's high jump hitting a mark of 1.94m, while
Kelie Henderson placed third in the women's 5k finishing in a time of 17:42.65.
Jenari Lopez was seventh in the 5k.
Brieon Randle placed third in the men's 400m in a time of 48.41, while
Matthew Haddock was fourth in a time of 48.58. The men's 4x100m relay team of
Malachi Pipkin, Randle, Haddock and
Cameron Linville placed third in a time of 41.63.
In other action,
Mallory Huber was sixth in the women's discus at 42.47m, while
Katie Candrl and
Mackenzie Moring were fifth and sixth in the women's pole vault, both hitting heights of 3.60m.
Precious Olatunji was 14
th in the women's long jump, while
Jazmine Knight was 15
th in the women's high jump. Olatunji was seventh in the women's triple jump, while
LaNea Wallace was fourth in the women's 400m hurdles at 1:02.84.
Kayana Gaines placed seventh in the women's 3k steeplechase, while
Zachary Finley was 14
th in the men's 1,500m. Randle placed 8
th in the men's 200m dash, while Haddock and Pipkin placed 14
th and 15
th, respectively.
Riley Simpson was fourth in the men's 3k steeplechase, while
Jaden Deaton placed ninth and
Gidieon Kimutai was fifth and
Jarod Ozee eighth in the men's 5k.
Gabe McClain was eighth in the men's 800m, while
JaDarius Pigg was ninth in the men's 400m hurdles.
The Lions will be in action next weekend as Southern will travel to Arkansas State on Friday and Saturday.
