Danny Biggs had three hits each as the Missouri Southern baseball team won 9-4 today over Christian Brothers in USA Stadium.
The Lions (2-0) got a great start from freshman
Will Bausinger as he went six innings, striking out four and walking just one, while allowing only two earned runs for the win.
Sean Goostree pitched two innings of hitless relief, while Brandon Sadler and
Trenton Moeller threw a perfect ninth.
Biggs went 3-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored, adding a double.
Brett Graham had a pair of doubles, going 3-6 with two runs and an RBI.
Max Hogan had a pair of hits and an RBI, while
Tyler Sutherland had a home run, three RBIs and a run scored.
Alec Alvarez scored a run, while
Richie Gorski scored two and
Cory Canterbury added a run of his own.
The Lions scored a pair of runs in each of the second, third, fourth, sixth and eighth innings, while plating a single run in the ninth.
Biggs doubled in Gorski in the first, and Sutherland added a sacrifice fly to score Biggs to open the scoring. Graham doubled home Canterbury and then scored in the third on a wild pitch, while Sutherland's homer in the fourth made the score 6-1, Lions.
Biggs and Hogan had RBI singles in the eighth and Biggs added an RBI in the ninth for the final tally.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend as Southern plays host to Wisconsin-Parkside in a four-game series at Warren Turner Field.
